Forbidden Peak - North Ridge

Forbidden Peak’s North Ridge is a classic mixed route on a remote side of Forbidden Peak.  It combines crossing a large glacier, steep snow climbing and a beautiful alpine granite ridge that takes you directly to the summit.  Don’t let the moderate rock rating fool you (5.7).  This is a demanding climb that requires well-rounded alpine climbing skills.

Forbidden Peak - West Ridge

Forbidden Peak is one of the better-known peaks in North Cascade National Park.  At 8,815 feet it is not the tallest peak in the range, but the quality of climbing and the beauty of the peak make it one of the best.  Its pyramid shape, surrounding glaciers and solid rock make Forbidden Peak a difficult summit to attain.  All of the routes to the summit of Forbidden require technical climbing.  There are no “walk-ups” on Forbidden Peak.

Washington Pass Climbing

NCMG guide and author of the Supertopo guide to Washington pass, Ian Nicholson, calls this area “the best alpine rock destination in North America.”  With scores of classic climbs covering the full spectrum of difficulties, there is truly something here for everyone.  Offering an all snow approach in the early season, these climbs can have a distinctly alpine feel in the Spring and early Summer.  Later in the Summer, the approaches become snow free and most of these climbs can be reached in a pair of approach shoes in only an hour or two.  This allows us the unique opportunity to spend the

Ortler Tour

For those folks who have already skied the Haute route, or are wanting a more skiing focused trip with smaller huts, better food and a flexible itinerary, the Ortler tour is the answer.  We spend several nights at a few of the huts on this circuit, allowing us to focus on going out in search of great skiing each day as opposed to just having to make it to the next hut.  With amazing Italian food and wine, Cappucino and hot showers at every hut and amazing glaciated terrain, this has become one our favorite trips each year.

Join North Cascades Mountain Guides, on what is surely a trip of a lifetime, the fabled European High Route. This is undoubtedly one of the worlds most spectacular ski tours, and with the support of the French and Swiss Alpine Club, huts can be comfortably achieved by most advanced skiers.
